Dear Ignorant and Stubborn Conspiracy Theorist
Dear Ignorant and Stubborn Conspiracy Theorist,
this is not a conspiracy
polar bears’ homes are disappearing
african elephants’ water is receding
and yet some (you) choose to ignore
the fact that it’s happening
because it’s not global cooling
it’s global warming
because holding a dripping, white snowball in your hand doesn’t mean that climate change isn’t going on
because it does have an impact on humankind
because there is something we can do about it
because it will affect you
it will affect everyone
because this is a major problem
not an insignificant problem
apparently all of this is still not enough for humankind to see
what is happening to our world
and do something about it
so here's to a day
about not guessing which animal will go extinct
your unwillingness to care will be our downfall
best regards,
josie p.

I am a 14 year old from Charlotte, North Carolina. My intention for this piece of poetry is to bring awareness to the issue of climate change. I want my poem to institute a desire for the reader to change his/her’s attitude towards climate change. The theme for this poem is the effects of climate change on our world. We see evidence of it all around us, and we as a country and government aren’t doing enough to address the issues. Thank you for your consideration.
