ABC Anatomy
At this time,
last year,
you broke your
leg.
You told me it was because you fell
Down
The
Stairs.
You were clumsy but not
That
Clumsy.
Five months later you told me that time
Seemed
Insurmountable.
Like everything stopped being so
Simple
And singing your ABCs
Wasn’t something you wanted to do with
Me.
i didn’t ask to sign your cast,
But i carried a blue sharpie around,
Thinking maybe one day i
might.
i still have that marker.

I wrote this poem with the word "insurmountable" in mind. For me, this poem represents feelings and memories that are insurmountable – something too strong to overcome.
