The Future (An imitation of Lenelle Moise's Quaking Conversation)
I want to talk about glasses.
How they help me have 20/20 vision,
But the world’s problems,
the ones bigger than me,
Blurred away
While my teenage problems,
The ones as small as sand,
Stood clearly in my peripheral view.
I want to talk about vision,
How vision is so expensive
It literally costs an arm and a leg,
But I would rather have a broken arm
Than broken eyes,
For you can easily heal broken bones.
I want to talk about cataracted eyes
Blinding us to the surplus of opportunities
Outside our comfort zones,
Obscuring our goals.
Becoming too prevalent in our generations.
Sight may be expensive
But it expands our minds.
So put on your glasses,
And get some clarity
Because the whole world is waiting to be seen.
