Heartbreak is like deer
Heartbreak is like deer
foraging for berries and acorns, every aspect of life
seems perfect,
always sticking together
with the herd.
But then
gunshots
ring through the leafy branches like the booming voices
of impulsive “I love you”s
and heart rates quicken, searching for any place to hide. A place away from there.
And they escape,
coming together again to scavenge free and happily.
Until all of a sudden
one dashes in the wrong direction
at the wrong time
and the fragile beast freezes in the spotlight as if caught in a blistering white lie
thump
the world goes black.
