Observations at 2 AM
My brother only smiled late at night
Sneaking back into the house
Wobbling out of the window and sprawling onto the carpet
Making futile attempts to create angels on the white fluff
Lips curved
Bloody and torn
My brother is the first person I met
Who cannibalized his own existence
Teeth crooked
Brittle
Stained with nail polish remover and flouride
He always came back reeking of cheap alcohol and decay
Giggles
Bubbled from his rusted throat
But all I heard were gurgled moans
Everytime my brother opened his mouth it sounded like a tragedy
Eyes glassy, rimmed red
Gazing at the ceiling in euphoria
He said he could see Heaven
From his bed of clouds
