An Infinity in August
In vast waves of shaking greens
We descended from the mountain tops into the gritty preview to water
His arm lined my shoulders and neck, like a scarf
We sailed the in-betweens of the humming air until he said;
“This moment right here is what I like to call an Infinity. And I’m glad mine’s with you.”
The tape recorder of my brain clicked and replayed
A pang of longing cut through the silence and I shivered in the navy winds
My senses flooded with the crickets, the waves, and the tingling of the air
My heart soared and I watched it burn orange as it crossed the sky
on this late August night.
