skin & bone
hollow bones break,
split open by the weight of the world on weak ankles
and trembling knees too unsure of themselves
to be tasked with such a burden —
growth.
it comes in the form of snapdragons and orchids and forget-me-nots
emerging from the midnight cracks,
taking the emptiness and filling them.
the healing occurs slowly,
but soon the broken things are unbroken
and the unbroken things have become beautiful.
