The Hunter
Summer’s over and I love autumn but
I can’t shake the ominous feeling
that something lurks nearby
The days begin to shorten,
I feel it creeping
October now and I exhale in clouds
It’s getting closer
I wish I could stop it,
but for each step I take,
It leaps
It stalks me with perfect precision
November is here and with it,
The years first snow
I can feel it now
It’s breath blows thick,
on the back of my neck
I saw it coming this year but still,
Was not prepared
The days are now bitter and cold
And the frigid winter air nips at my skin
Much like it nips at me
I try to run, but I can’t reverse time and
Now it’s hold on me is much too strong
For me to break
Winter is here
And I once again fall victim to my attacker
Chills race down my spine as it whispers
In my ear
And in my throbbing heart
“Seasonal depression wins again.”
