Winter
Children are transfixed by its glow,
Playing in the fluffy snow;
But it’s more deadly than it shows,
So let me tell you what I know.
Memories of the shining sun,
Are forgotten as they smile and run,
Throwing snowballs, thinking it’s fun;
Its process has just begun.
I’d rather have autumn’s bliss,
Instead of winter’s bitter kiss,
Emerald fields and trees, I’ll miss,
And the little ones don’t know the risk.
Ice that stings, cold that bites,
Wind that screams throughout the night,
It kills without a sound or sight,
Freezing those with no home or light.
Winter’s beautiful, deceiving, and cold,
Such as those without a soul;
Winter captures memories, young and old,
But I’ll never forget the sun, so gold.

I love winter, but, there are cold secrets under its white skin.
