Captain Crunch
Your pearly white,
straighter than both you or me
teeth crunch together.
I watch as a spoonful of my favorite cereal
collides with the ten-thousand buds
that line your tongue.
You shake the empty box
disturbing the peacefully coexisting
crumbs and plastic lining.
Our eyes meeting
as another bite
rolls around your mouth,
your throat jumping
with every swallow,
and “we need more cereal”
spilling out like milk.
