Lifeguard
Swimming all alone,
no one in sight.
The free feeling,
moving around.
Legs becoming heavy,
arms getting tired.
The feeling of weights,
tied around my ankles.
Slowly going down,
the water is raising all around me.
Water raising,
My face is halfway under water,
I feel the water on my lips,
cold as ice.
The water is over my nose,
I watch the water raise to my eyes.
The water gets colder,
the more I go under.
Going down,
down.
Drowning,
drowning with no one to save me.
Drowning.
Struggling,
wanting more air,
more air,
air to breath,
air to fill my lungs.
Fill,
my,
lungs.
Relieve me from struggle.
These thoughts are useless.
I'm going down,
nothing to do now.
Just stop.
Stop trying.
Give up.
Nothing you can do will make this better.
As I lose all hope.
There you are.
You put air in my lungs.
Remove my weights.
Relieve me of struggle.
Pull me to the surface.
And I breathe,
and feel the relief.
