The Beguiling of Merlin
So with her gilded sword she smote him down
For he had taught her all she was want to know
And with one look, the sage behind the crown
Did fall to a tale of untimely woe
Visions of his imminent destiny
Ran through his mind, one after the other
And yet he knew from her he could not flee
The poison of the beautiful flower
O his wondrous magic! the ace of spells!
Nothing eluded his dreams of their fate
His powerful talent was wielded well
All but his own demise could he liberate
Beguiled by a faithless enchantress
As a siren enthralls the eyes of men
Though truly wise, of her he was heedless
A lady of the lake, maid Vivian
