Star in my sky
I chase after a star
Who is not always far,
But often not in the sky.
I ask, but cannot know, Why?
Does the star dislike to
Shine upon me? Or so
That she may save her light
For something else in the night?
I get close, yet still far away.
I really don’t know when it’s day.
The sun may rise, moon may set,
But I turn to a star I’ve never met.
I say we’ve not met, tho
I have watched and known, oh,
This star holds only mysteries of soul.
Yet, I know this is my goal!
Not just another star, no
There are very few I so know.
Time and caring effort lend beauty
If only from love’s past duty.
