Ode to Abuse
Today I stared at the grass
And manipulated its morning droplets
Into a fog glazed with
Nightmares.
Suddenly I found
You.
Perfect.
Sitting atop your cloud of cocaine.
Then I heard you
Screaming words,
Starving words
Each consonant begging for life
Each vowel asking God for sanctity
I gaped at the cigarettes and disrespect
Crashing down on
The presents you bought me with.
I was wrapped in their paper
Like it was the marrow and sinew of your sins.
I found myself waving goodbye
As the tongues of hell swallowed you whole.

People who think sitting in a church will make you a christian must think that sitting in a garage will make you a car.
