Words and Wisdom
I see confidence
Everywhere I look,
Written on faces
Just like on a book.
I look at their words
In size twelve font.
And I read that they’re capable,
Of anything they want.
Their power grows stronger,
As each chapter passes.
I look up from the book,
And I take off my glasses.
I return the faces back,
To their spot on the shelf.
I walk to the mirror,
And take a look at myself.
All I can see,
Is a sheet; empty and blurred.
I can’t seem to find
Even one single word.
I start feeling upset,
Because I can see,
That no one has written
Any words on me.
But then I remember,
That there is one thing I need
In order for me,
To be able to read.
I need my glasses
To read those faces
And to see all the words
In between the small spaces.
So I slide on my spectacles
And stand in the mirror.
When I open my eyes
I lose all my fear.
I am covered in confidence.
Words have swallowed my being.
And now I can see,
What I hadn't been seeing.
