Thorns
A lie grows
like a dark, thorny flower,
stabbing the hearts of those who get too close,
the ones who inhale its sickly scent.
If it is not plucked
by someone who possesses the
needed courage,
if there is not a person strong enough,
it will grow
spiral
and engulf
the people that helped it thrive.
Its thorns will shred the people it hurt
limb by limb,
all the way
to the heart.
And none of the unlucky souls will ever
see the light of the forgiving sun again,
as long as that dark, thorny flower
lives on.
