Pictures of a person
An outward image projected,
A mask to hide the flaws.
Traits carefully selected,
To follow social laws.
A façade of a smile,
A pretense of perfection.
A disguise of hate and bile,
An ever spreading infection.
We stumble onwards blind,
To what people have to hide.
We are all one of a kind,
But to our image we are tied.
What if the world forgot,
Even for the day.
Would it hurt or not?
To put the mask away.
