Thank heaven for essays!
Their dull points repeated
In longwinded phrases;
Their dull topics greeted
With groans and with sighs
And with loud cries of, “FICTION!!”
– Thank heaven for essays,
And then promptly nix ‘em.

Good thing each idea
Is stated sixfold;
It’s lucky the topics
Will NEVER get old;
How lovely, these essays!
(These matches should light ‘em)
– Thank heaven for essays,
No more shall I write ‘em.

I would do the same (and probably have, now that you mention it). I like it, even though I do like school essays. I'm probably too sarcastic and blunt for my own good.
