Valentine's Day
So today
You wouldn’t believe
What I gave
And what I received.
I gave my loved one
Just a hug
And thanked him
For loving me,
And then he
Went.
He had gone and left
It was a true tragedy.
On this special day
I expected something more
Not a hug goodbye
But something I could adore.
But then I found
Inside my purse
A letter
Directions,
It saved me from this curse.
I got a free trip to the spa
I got a facial, massage, and mani pedi’s.
My next step
Was to get all fancied up
And jump into a taxi.
Although I did not know
Where I was going
Apparently the driver did
And when he stopped me
At the park
I knew I was going to receive
The best gift.
I saw him there
Beyond
The bright, colored sunset
The place where we had met.
He turned to me
He pulled out a ring
In the most delightful way
He said the words
The only four words
I have been dying for him to say:
“My sweet dear,
My only one
I love you very much so.
I just have one question
That I need,
That I am dying to know.
I don’t know how to put it
There really is no other way.
But
Will you marry me
On this Valentine’s day?”
