This man
He laid on fresh blue sheets and breathed clean circulated air the smell of antiseptic But i noticed that when this old manÕs hands moved all i saw was crumpled dirty alley newspaper blowing in the wind He often spoke of some long-dead woman whom he had loved and i had never met She sat on his nightstand She had been a great woman Secretly i wondered if he had ever really known her (i mean really known her) (Nobody ever really knows anybody) It was a bit late in the evening I was getting tired and a little hungry He called an end to our visit by closing his eyes to sleep, and a doctor came in
They told us that he was dead
