A Black-Velvet Sky MAG
Strapped into the backseat of our car,
I gaze up at the black-velvet sky
and see a star.
The star is white,
radiant and brimming
with twinkling light.
So tiny, so high
it shines alone,
in the nighttime sky.
The car rolls along as I wonder,
Does the star belong?
The night is enveloping
the car like a cotton cloud.
Suddenly before my eyes
the first star appears
faster than light flies.
more stars come out from
the shadows
And into the black-velvet night
I see the sky become
a star-stuffed sight.
