Sitting Alone In The Woods MAG
A hummingbird
idling in the air
Flutters into the imagination of
Monet
the ambulance driver
curing the lacquered tongues of the ignorant
broken in an argument
He smells the laughter, hears the tears,
but sees nothing except empty thoughts
of cold coffee mugs and stale, dry crackers
My mind races
I take a nervous drag
from his cigarette
The wind suddenly rips through the trees
In the distance, a lonely dog howls
and a bumblebee anxiously zips through the air
looking for a place to hide
"Does anybody have a light?"
A spark of the imagination will do
The trees are getting cold
"Would you like a cup of tea?"
Perhaps it is time to rake the leaves
An ominous sky hovers over me
like an overprotective parent
or maybe it is
"What is a girl like you doing in a place like this?"
She takes another drag
then wakes up to the gentle nudge
of a wet nose, and warm tongue licking
her tear-streaked face
The sun makes its debut performance
in the middle of the night
as the moon peeks through the clouds
casting an eerie light on anything that gets in its way
Ashes fall like rain to the ground
