The Promise MAG
If my brother had lived, he'd understand
how hard it was to pass the 7th grade.
If we shared my bedroom, I'd
nickname him Cello and he'd say Hey
and we'd play pool.
This better place where Cello hangs out now
has the big screen TV
and the Sports Channel on every station.
When I lock myself in our room
and wrap the bed blanket tight like a straight jacket
I hope he sees me shaking.
I should promise myself something to honor
Cello's one month here on earth.
I promise to always be honest,
to always speak aloud in our room
so he knows what I think.
