Teenage Love?

Do you believe in love in high school? Could it possibly exist?

No way, kids don't know what true love is... But, how many people do you know that dated in high school that are currently married and happy? I personally know about 4 couples very very well that are now happy after being high school sweethearts. Did they just like each other as teens and grow to love each other? When did the "like" change to "love?" In college? Age 21? 22?23? Or could they possibly have loved each other all along?

How can you put an age on love?

I, personally, believe in teenage love. I truly think it exists. Adults that did not fall in love till they were, in fact, adults, will most likely dismiss it. However, some - like my mother, for instance - do not dismiss teenage love. Do you?

I THINK THAT TEENAGE LOVE IS REAL BUT, THE ONLY THING THAT MIGHT NOT MAKE IT SEEM REAL IS THE KIDS WHO THINK THEY ARE IN LOVE BUT REALLY SOMETIMES THEY ARE JUST IN LOVE WITH THE IDEA OF BEING IN LOVE. (SORRY BOUT CAPS MY IPAD IS FREAKING OUT)

A room without books is like a body without a soul. I don't know who wrote that, it was just on an advertisement at my library. . . hahaha.

I definately don't. Teen-love is definately real. Our ancestors knew it when they arranged marriages between teenagers (that's a whole other topic in itself), we shouldn't dismiss it now. . . I also believe that love is ageless, so you cannot choose or determine whether you're really in love with someone according to your age.

The only difference between highschoolers and preschoolers is that preschoolers get naptime.

Remember, most teenagers doesn't mean all. I know teens who've been dating for years and sex hasn't even come up. So, no, not all teens think of love as lust.

Note that it's not obsessive though.  That would be lust

I think that teens overuse the word love and so the term has now become trivialized.  I know couples that say they love each other after the first hour, day, week, and month.  Kinda ridiculous i think.  However, that's not to say it doesn't exist.   I think to a certain extent, it comes down to if you could see yourself happily being with a person indefinitely.  When they go to school that you hope they get there safely.  That you always feel a little out of it when they're not around.

If you have to ask the question, you don't mean it

I completely agree with you.  Personally as a teen I was in a relationship which unfortunately ended when I had to move countries.  However, it took me over a year to get over it, and I only did so when I realised how much he had changed.

I believe in teenage love...but I think it takes two really special (and grounded) people to make it real. I believe in it but I don't have much faith in it because kids are just not in touch with life anymore and that prevents them from really being in love. Plus, most teen guys can't keep only one girl on their mind 100% of the time and that intervenes.

I think teenage love can exist, but it's more like love at first sight. I believe that there's always gonna be that one person you were meant for. And it just depends when you find them.

well my parents are middle school sweethearts...they went to school 2gether their whole lives...but i do see where your coming from...it just depends on the person

Most teenagers think of love as LUST maybe you think you dont but maybe you do. However if you find other ways LOVE is shown without a boy or girl than maybe teen love can be as close to real love as possible..

i believe in teenage love. i currently have a bf and we both have opend up to eachother because of it. my mom and family dont but i do. teenage love exists it is just rare because some teens just think love is love it doesnt mean anythin wen u r in high skool or a teen in general.

i belive in teen love, because i think when someone is a teen the love is pure, and we dont have a lot of worries, the teen´s can express their love in too many forms, and i think when you grow up you forget the way they fell in love whit that especial person, and they mind is in all his problems. for that ,i think the teen's need to fell in love, and see what love is, and make mistakes.

i agree with CristeNite. love is a very philosophical topic that is not well-defined by people in general. teenage love is emphasized or is more dramatic because of some hormonal changes in the body. But I do believe in teenage love.

Love in general is a very subjective topic to begin with, let alone "teen love." I don't think one can put a time requirement or age requirement on love because it is an emotion just like hate, anger, joy, and sadness; anyone can feel those emotions so why would it be different concerning love? To me, "teen love," is just the same as the love one would feel as an adult; there's just more emphasis on it because when adulthood comes, many feel that marriage somewhat seals the deal and "proves," that is is true love. Many argue that "teen love," does not exist because teenagers "shift their appeal constantly," and usually "break up." But how do you explain divorce? How do you explain spouses who cheat and give in to temptation? In my opinion, love is love whether you feel it in your adolescent stage or when you become an adult.
