A Dream
Everyone has a dream. Some dreams differ from each other. Some people’s dream is to become a doctor or an NFL player. But my dream was a little bit more simple than that. It took me most of my life to realize really how easy it was to achieve this dream, in fact I never really knew how easy it was till it happened.
I wrote a letter. Short and simple. Basically just stated who I was and why I was writing that letter, then signed at the bottom “sincerely your daughter Sammie.” I sent out the letter with an open heart knowing he may or may not write back.
Sure enough, I came home one day to my mom telling me I received a letter back from my father! His letter told me to call him I then called him that night, he said he really wanted to meet me. That was when I knew I was just steps away from my dream coming true.
That Christmas I flew to Florida, sitting on the plane I was full of emotions. Excited, happy, anxious, and even nervous. My grandpa and grandma met me at the airport and brought me to the sports bar down the road where my dad was waiting for me. I arrived at the bar and walked in and there he was, sitting right there, with the biggest smile on his face. He greeted me with a huge hug and said “it’s so wonderful to finally meet you.” At this very moment my dream had come true. It was a moment I’ll never forget.
