Our Hell
People cope with things as if tomorrow is a reset and today is forgotten. People struggle to find a happy medium…
People can never do everything in life right, or so they believe.
People are one large unhealthy coping mechanism.
Person One: harms themselves but then acts like a ray of sunshine with no dark clouds. They pull their sleeves down and shun the thoughts.
Person Two: has no will to live, doing drugs for fun, and they act like they aren't going to make it to nineteen. If they don't change now, they will be as right as Albert.
Person Three: lived in a broken household growing up, with a mother struggling with mental health and a father who couldn't understand it and ran off with another lover. They had to grow up fast and force a smile through it all.
Person Four: has long dealt with mental illness, which resurfaces at times. They attempt to help everyone in any way they can, but ultimately takes on all of their struggles and breaks, leaving permanent cracks on their porcelain skin.
‘If you’re going through Hell, keep going,’ (Winston Churchill.) These people have personal Hell’s that they refuse to let cross. They want to block this out from the world, not realizing if they open up it may improve everything, making Hell a little less fiery. They must keep pushing through, breaking and making bonds with people in the process. Soon this will be Our Hell, and we will learn to control the fire.

This piece was based on The Miracle of Morning by Amanda Gorman. Both talk about coping and growing together, but on very different subjects.
