Objects
Have you ever had an object that’s important to you? Like a truck, a tractor, toys, some hats? Well, in my family we have a lot of those that have passed down to other generations. From guns, toys, trucks, tractors, hats, tools we’ve all had from the first generation of this farm no doubt. My grandpa has the most stuff though. He has a whole room full of old toys and hats. Now keep this in mind I am the 7th generation of the Gorden family so some of the stuff we have is over 70-80 years old. When my grandpa passed he said that I get every single thing in that room. Well, that room would take days to clean out. You would need like 20 boxes full of stuff.
One of the most important that has passed down to me is probably my John Deere 4020. Now, this has a big part of our family and we even got the paint restored to make it look all shiny. That tractor built in the 1970s-1980s was one of the last tractors we bought before the new series started to come out and this tractor is a workhorse. It worked in and out of the fields forever so we decided to keep it. I’m glad that we did cause I love that little tractor for how insane it’s for just sitting so long and just coming back to life like that insane. One time we did have an injector leak though so I fixed that along with some new spark plugs on it. Not too bad of a fix but I’m glad that the tractor is back to its original state.
Another one of our prized possessions that my grandpa currently owns is my great grandpa’s truck we call Wayne, named after my great-grandpa Wanye of course. Now, this truck it’s an old 1965 Chevy Silverado and it hasn’t been running in years. The last time I think it ran was in 2009 I think. I remember riding in it with my dad just up and down the road. This truck has sat so long that mice and other animals have used it as a home well that’s about to change because we will restore it and make it all shiny and new again. Originally I wanted that truck to be my first truck but the price of the insurance would be insane because the truck has no seatbelts or airbags. I still think it would be pretty cool to have a truck that old as a first truck though. That’s why I kinda wanted it as my first truck but the one I have now will do.

I'm a 16-year old that goes to high school in Macon, Illinois. I like the thought of history and the passing of things through families so I decided to write a little about my family and the things passed down throughout the years.
