Name Essay
My name was brought to English in the New Testament in the bible where St. Thomas, one of the apostles, was made. Now people see it as dependable and down to earth. I consider myself dependable because I will always be there for my friends and family. It came into the language as a masculine word helped by the greek Θωμάς which is a man.
It was no one's name before me in the family. All I have to do is show how the name can be used and show to people what the name means to me and to my peers like my friends and family
Since I was little my dad and his brother came up with the nickname t-bone. They called me this because I was a bigger kid growing up and a t-bone steak is. As I have grown older the nicknames have stopped.
My full name is Thomas Michael Curry; Michael comes from my dad. Middle names are a family tradition that the first born boy is to have their fathers name as the middle name. My dad doesn't have his fathers name as his middle name because he is the youngest of 3 boys, but me being the oldest and only boy in the family I took on the name.
At school my name isn’t called a lot but when it is and I hear it I give my attention to that person. Whenever I hear my name it is a cue for me to start listening.
If I could change my name I wouldn’t because I love my name and how it represents me to my family and my peers around me and I am proud to have the name Thomas. I like what my name stands for and I can’t wait to see what it holds for me in the future.
