THE CHILD (Baby Yoda)
Last month on Nov. 12th Disney released Disney+, and with it came The Mandalorian. The Mandalorian is a show about a bounty hunter by the name Dyn Jarren in 9 A.B.Y ( After the battle of Yavin). In the first episode the Mandalorian is recruited to hunt down something or someone, and the only information they give him is that this specific specimen is around 50 yrs. Old.
The Mandalorian lands on a planet named Arvala-7 and searches for his bounty. Mando finds himself in a village where he is ambushed by some other bounty hunters and fights alongside a droid named IG-11. After finishing off the last of the other hunters, Mando and IG-11 find an egg-shaped pod in which the bounty is inside of. The Mandalorian opens the shuttle and there it is,
BABY YODA
The inclusion of Baby Yoda begs the question, why is Baby Yoda in this series and who is he.
Baby Yoda isn’t the Yoda we all know and love from The Skywalker Saga. Us Star Wars fans call this baby, Baby Yoda because it is a part of Yoda’s species, but the thing is Yoda’s species has never been named. So far, there have only been three beings of Yoda’s species that are canon to the Star Wars universe, Yoda, Yaddle, and Baby “Yoda”.
The Yoda is a part of a small carnivorous humanoid species that is known for there force-sensitive abilities. The average height of a “Yoda” is around 70 centimeters, with a lifespan of many hundreds of years; they don’t have an exact number of years for their lifespan because most of them were Jedi who live longer than any other member of that species.
There have been multiple theories speculating the origins of Baby Yoda and his species. Many fans have speculated that Baby Yoda is a clone because The Mandalorian’s client Dr. Pershing had a Kamino emblem on his shoulder. This is the same emblem that is worn by the clones seen in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of The Clones. This would explain why the bounty is so expensive. Another theory is that Baby Yoda is the child of Yaddle and Yoda.
Regardless of which theory you find to be your favorite, we can all agree on one or two things.
1.It will be answered in some other season in the future
2.They cleverly introduced this right before Christmas so we can all have some Baby Yoda merchandise.
